PINANTAN LAKE, B.C. – The tiny southern interior community of Pinantan Lake, B.C., has lost one of its most important structures.
The general store in the lakeside community, about 35 kilometres east of Kamloops, burned to the ground overnight.

Residents could only watch the flames because there is no formal fire protection around the lake and few resources for volunteers.
Witnesses say the fire broke out just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.
No one was hurt.
A cause of the blaze has not been determined.
