The new development includes 5,600 homes, green space and pedestrian walkways. An estimated 11-thousand people could eventually live in the area.

The area’s councillor says it could provide a blueprint for future developments in the city.

“This is an opportunity to show how it can be done, show that it can be done and to show that this is what building a liveable city is all about,” says Brian Pincott.

Canadian Lands Company, which is behind the project, expects it will take a decade to complete.
