The search for stolen Kelowna store cat Annie

KELOWNA — They’re open for business but there’s something missing from the aisles at Kelowna’s Buckerfields.

The resident cat, Annie, was stolen Saturday afternoon. According to staff, a woman came in the store picked up Annie and walked out.

Employee, Chelsea Trudel, who was first alerted to the “catnapping,” ran outside the store after hearing Annie had been stolen, but the woman was already inside a vehicle, leaving the scene.

Trudel describes the woman as Caucasian, roughly 5’5″ and in her 40s or 50s. A man was behind the wheel of the vehicle, an orange pickup truck, which is similar to the picture below:

Trudel believed the licence plate was HK0306, but police say that plate number doesn’t match their records.

Annie has the tattoo 76KNA in one of her ears and the other ear is partly ripped.

Staff have put a cage out behind the store in hopes whoever took Annie has a change of heart and returns her.

Annie first came to the store as a pregnant stray, who according to staff, was extremely emaciated. She had her nine kittens inside the store warehouse and from then on became a permanent fixture at Buckerfields.

Trudel said Annie had a great life living in the store and was free to come and go as she pleased. Annie often played in the field next to the store, but always returned back. Now employees hope the community can help bring her home.
