KELOWNA — The UBC Okanagan Faculty of Management has found a new solution for students affected by cancelled accounting courses.
“On April 9, Okanagan College confirmed that they will welcome UBC Bachelor of Management students into three CPA Prerequisite accounting subject areas offered at Okanagan College, to fulfill the transfer credit requirements for their UBC degree,” according to information posted by UBC Okanagan late Thursday. “Talks with Okanagan College had been underway for some time and an agreement in principle has been reached.”
Students spoke out when the Dean of the Management program announced the course cancellation on the last day of class.
In response to student concerns, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Okanagan campus acknowledged confusion created by the announcement.
“I want students to know that they can still earn all the CPA prerequisites and count them as credits toward the Bachelor of Management degree,” said Deborah Buszard.
Scheduling between UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College has yet to be worked out.
Students who choose to take the courses by correspondence will be offered tutorial help at UBC Okanagan, according to Buszard.
