PQ star candidate Léo Bureau-Blouin has lost his seat in Laval-Des-Rapides. He was defeated by the Liberals’ Saul Polo.
Polo won 43.1 per cent of the vote in early results. Bureau-Blouin received 32.1 per cent. The CAQ’s Vincent Bolduc won 17.5 per cent.
Bureau-Blouin, a former student union leader and key organizer of the 2012 student protests, was elected as the youngest MNA ever in Quebec’s 2012 election. The riding had previously been Liberal for almost ten years.
Laval-Des-Rapides is often considered a bellwether riding, as it has voted for the winning party in every election since its creation in 1981. This held true this election, as well.
