VERNON — More legal trouble for Steve Fonyo, at one time Vernon’s best known resident.
The former cross-country cancer runner has pleaded guilty to possessing stolen property worth more than $5,000.
Fonyo ran across Canada in 1985 to raise money for cancer research and he was a one time member of the Order of Canada, but he’s had a number of run-ins with the law since then – collecting a string of convictions for assault and theft.
This latest incident happened in Surrey in 2012.
Fonyo is slated to be back in court in June.
