MONTREAL – Authorities have confirmed the identity of a young woman found shot in the head in Montreal last month.
Montreal police spokesperson Danny Richer said that fingerprints and DNA led investigators to contact authorities in the U.S., who identified the victim as Elizabeth Barrer.
Described as an “accused drug kingpin,” Barrer has apparently been sought by U.S. authorities since 2007.
The 32-year-old woman was found shot in the head in a parked vehicle in Montreal’s Lachine borough.

Responding to a 9-1-1 call at 10 p.m. on March 19, police officers and first responders found a woman in her thirties sitting behind the wheel of a white SUV.
Although at first she appeared to be unconscious, closer inspection revealed a gunshot wound to the head.
According to a report from 2007 in the Virginia-based Free Lance-Star, Barrer was the subject of a narcotics investigation.
Local prosecutor, Matt Lowery told the local newspaper that Barrer was considered to be a part of a large East Coast drug organization, which used social media sites to communicate about drug trafficking and distribution.
The search warrants filed in August 2007 were for MySpace pages and internet service provider logs registered to Barrer.
