Connie Kaldor at The Empress

April 4, 2014. I love driving out to the historic Empress Theatre in Fort Macloed. It’s a beautiful place for a concert and having interviewed numerous performers over the years they absolutely love playing there. Today was no exception. Juno award winner and Order of Canada recipient Connie Kaldor gushed about the venue. And what an absoluetly charming and lovely lady. She’s very proud of her Saskatchewan roots and loves telling her stories and singing her songs all across Canada. Not only is she an accomplished singer/songwriter she also dabbles in writing for the theatre. In fact The Empress performed one of her shows a few years back. If you’re reading this before 7:30 tonight, you might consider taking the short jaunt 30 miles to the west to see a truly iconic artist.

Volunteer Lethbridge has moved into the Dr. Foster James Penny building which is right across from the Penny Coffee House. Long time residents will remember the building as Capitol Furniture. They’ve done a terrific job of renovating the upstairs and they’re holding an open house next Thursday during Volunteer week. Tonight Diana Sim tells us about the events that will take place next week and invites you to tell your volunteer story by going to their website http://www.volunteerville.ca
