SACKVILLE, NB – Over 100 students gathered on Mount Allison University’s campus Friday to protest the administration’s decision to not recommend a tuition rebate for students after a three-week strike earlier this year.
“It is increasingly common to see students and community members wearing small felt blue squares as a symbol of solidarity with students who are fighting for a tuition rebate,” said the Mount Allison Students’ Union in a release.
Students say they are frustrated and feel as though some sort of reimbursement is due because of their shortened semester.
On Thursday, the university’s faculty council also passed a non-confidence vote against two top administrators.
Over 600 students have also signed a petition pledging that if a tuition rebate is denied, they will not donate money to Mount Allison as alumni in the future.
Students have vowed to continue protesting the decision.
