Some frustrated Salmon Arm parents say there’s got to be a better way to ensure their children get into kindergarten french immersion.
They’re spending three nights in sleeping bags claiming their spot in line for the Wednesday morning registration.
While a lottery system has been suggested as an alternative, the school district says the feedback from most parents is they prefer lining up rather than taking a chance on a random draw.
And while parents think there should be a third kindergarten french immersion class added to the system, the school district says there isn’t enough demand to warrant the expense.
As of Thursday afternoon, ten families were in the sleep over campout with the district having space for 12 students.
