EDMONTON – Edmonton police are searching for a suspect after a taxicab driver was stabbed in northwest Edmonton early Wednesday morning.

Police say a Co-op taxi driver picked up a man and a woman outside of a Tim Hortons at 118 Ave. and 130 St.

While the cab driver was transporting the two people he was allegedly stabbed by the man.

The cab driver fled the car and called 911 from a 7/11 convenience store a few blocks from the scene.

The victim was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not released information regarding where or how many times the cab driver was stabbed.

The taxicab has been seized by the Edmonton Police Service’s Identification Team who will search the vehicle for clues.
