The roof was badly damaged making it difficult for fire crews to fight.
They are not treating the fire as suspicious.
No one was home at the time.
“Apparently the [owners] went to the dog park at about 4 o’clock. They saw the smoke from the dog park, they returned and discovered it was their home,” says Battalion Chief Ed Wells with Surrey Fire Service.
Wells says the owners had no idea how the fire may have started.
