EDMONTON – A Ponoka-area woman was killed Sunday morning, after a rollover just east of the small Alberta community.
The collision happened on Highway 53, about three kilometres east of Ponoka, around 6:15 a.m.
RCMP say the 35-year-old driver lost control of the SUV she was driving. The woman was thrown from the vehicle after it slid into the ditch and rolled.
When emergency crews arrived the woman was dead.
RCMP say they’re not sure if speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision. The road was bare and dry when the collision happened, RCMP added.
The woman’s identity is not being released at this time.
Ponoka is located about 100 kilometres south of Edmonton.
