Gracie Herntier-Clark, 7, was killed by two Alaskan malamutes owned by family friends. Facebook

WINNIPEG – The two Alaskan malamutes that killed seven-year-old Gracie Herntier have been euthanized.

“It was a decision I reached as animal control,” said rural municipality of Springfield animal control officer Dan Fryer.

Fryer made the decision in consultation with the RCMP, municipal and health officials, he said.

Shadow and Bear, the two dogs, mauled Gracie on Sunday at a home in the RM of Springfield, where she and her grandparents were visiting the family friends who own the dogs. She had spent time with the dogs previously and was outside with them when she was killed.
