SASKATOON – A freezing rain warning has ended for parts of Saskatchewan while the Cypress Hills area is under a snowfall warning.

Environment Canada says a disturbance over southern Alberta will push into southwest Saskatchewan Thursday morning before moving into North Dakota in the afternoon.

Mild air ahead of the system is creating scattered rainfall and with temperatures hovering near or below the zero mark, the precipitation will freeze creating slippery driving conditions.

The main threat for freezing rain will be during the morning, which is expected to change to snow during the course of the day.

As the system pushes out of the province, strong northerly winds will develop, bringing in another cold Arctic air mass to the region.

Winds gusting to 60 or 70 km/h combined with new snowfall will create reduced visibility into the evening, especially in southeastern Saskatchewan.
