WINNIPEG – The Manitoba government appears open to the possibility of banning Russian booze in government-run liquor stores.
The idea was raised in the legislature by the Opposition Progressive Conservatives, who said it would be one way to protest the crisis in Crimea.

Dave Chomiak, the minister responsible for the gaming control act, called the suggestion “valid.”
It could work as part of a larger set of economic sanctions against Russia, which are being discussed with the federal government, Chomiak said.
Any booze ban might be hard to notice, however.
The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation lists only three products from Russia in its online catalogue — two vodkas and one beer.
