EDMONTON – Two RCMP officers from Fort Chipewyan were dispatched to a medical emergency on March 15 to find a woman in labour.
When Cst. Folk and Cst. Luymes arrived at the home, they realized the woman was not in a position to be moved or taken to the nursing station.
So, the two Mounties stayed at her home and helped deliver the baby.
There were no complications with the birth.
Now, the Wood Buffalo RCMP is applauding the two constables for their actions, saying it’s an “unlikely occurrence for modern day policing.”
“These members have defined heroism with their actions,” the RCMP release said.
