The Blue Bombers continue to tinker with their roster signing two players on Thursday and releasing another.

The club signed import defensive back Maurice Leggett and  import defensive end Stafford Gatling.  They then released receiver Mike Sims-Walker.

After a successful career in the NFL, Sims-Walker signed with the Bombers last August.  He appeared in just one game making eight catches for 137 yards.  Shortly after his release @MikeSimsWalker tweeted “Free at last.”

Leggett burst onto the NFL scene as a rookie in 2008 with the Kansas City Chiefs.  He started eight games as cornerback in his first season and won the Mack Lee Hill award as the Chiefs top rookie.  The 27-year-old played another 10 games in 2009 but finished the season on injured reserve and then got hurt again in the first game in 2010.  He was eventually released and attended Detroit Lions training camp in 2011.  Leggett spent the past two seasons in the Arena Football League with Utah and Philadelphia.

Gatling played college at Ohio and was team captain in 2010. He spent four seasons there before being signed by the New York Jets in 2011.

In other CFL news, the expansion Ottawa RedBlacks have signed former Blue Bombers kicker Justin Palardy.

Quarterback Kevin Glenn has reportedly asked the RedBlacks to be traded.
