WINNIPEG – Four people are facing dozens of charges in what police call a “crime spree” involving credit card, debit card and cheque fraud.

The four allegedly stole about 100 pieces of identification, credit and debit cards and cheques in home and vehicle break-ins, police said. The stolen items were used to make purchases at Winnipeg businesses.

The group’s luck ran out on Sunday when officers spotted a stolen vehicle. The four were stopped in the 800 block of Ellice Avenue; one suspect tried to flee on foot but was captured later in the 600 block of Burnell Street.

Robert Sauer, 22, Christina Hudson, 34, Delfin Garcia, 45, and Jamie Neilson, 33, face a number of charges, including 67 counts of possessing property obtained by crime, 64 counts of illegally possessing another person’s identity documents and 16 counts of illegally possessing credit card data. Police also seized some methamphetamine, they said.
