If you have plans to go skiing for the Family Day long weekend, you’re in luck because Environment Canada is forecasting a snowstorm for the South Coast.
Commuters are advised to be prepared for the extreme cold conditions especially if you have travelling plans.
The details on how much snow will fall is not known, but the agency issued the following statement in a release, “while the details are still to be determined, forecasters are confident this storm will greatly impact the South Coast and Southwest Interior.”
Temperatures are expected to hover around -2C in the Lower Mainland, but Whistler may see temperatures hover around -20C.
Environment Canada’s website states “the Arctic ridge over the interior continues to drive cold air through coastal valleys and inlets. The cold air combined with strong outflow winds will at times give wind chill values near minus 20.”
Shelters are providing extra beds with the frigid temperatures that have settled across the province.
