TORONTO – Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for southern Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area, for a winter storm that is expected to make its way into the region this weekend.
A low pressure system from the southern United States is predicted to affect much of southern Ontario Saturday into Sunday morning.
The storm could bring up to 10 centimetres of snow for Toronto, however the exact track has yet to be determined.

Environment Canada says it’s likely the snow will change from snow to rain with a risk of freezing rain as the temperature warms up.
Areas further north of the GTA are expected to see snow accumulations of up to 15 cm.
Toronto’s high for Friday is -1 degrees Celsius with a 40 per cent change of flurries this morning. This evening’s low is -8.
Meanwhile, the City of Toronto’s ended its extreme cold weather alert at 10:50 a.m. ET Monday. An alert is issued when the temperature drops below -15 and extra services are triggered for the city’s homeless.
Southern Ontario was under a wind chill warning earlier this week with temperatures hovering between the -15 to -20 mark.
