UPDATE: The victim of the homicide has been identified as 23-year-old Johannes Foo of Richmond.
The cause of his death remains unknown.
Police say evidence gathered thus far suggests that this homicide was not a random act.
Richmond has registered its first murder of 2014 after the discovery of a man’s body.
Police tape marked off a large crime scene along Steveston Highway, between No. 3 and No. 4 roads.
The man was found badly hurt around 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are releasing few details, and are not saying whether the death is gang or drug related.
The victim’s name is also not being released, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now taken over the case.
