Missing 4-year-old boy found safe

TORONTO – A missing 4-year-old boy was found safe Monday afternoon.

Angelo Epassa went missing at 8:15 a.m. near Humberwood Boulevard and Kingsplate Crescent near Highway 427 and Rexdale Boulevard.

He was found shortly after 3:30 p.m. at a French school near Islington Avenue and Finch Avenue. He was supposed to be going to St. Noel Chabanel Catholic School where he’s a kindergarten student.

But Angelo, whose family is new to the area, was accidentally put on a school bus going to a different French immersion school.

“He knew he was in the wrong class. He said he wanted to go and see his friends,” his mother Natalie Epassa told Global News. “He just did what kids usually do in school.”

Momentary confusion ensued Monday afternoon when Mayor Rob Ford announced the boy had been located during a press conference on cleanup from the Dec. 21 ice storm.

“The child has been found safe and sound,” he said.

In fact, the mayor had been notified that a different, unidentified boy had been found.
