Crystal meth, cocaine seized in Prince Albert, Sask. drug bust

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A chase in Prince Albert, Sask. on Monday has resulted in a drug bust.

It started when Mounties from the Saskatchewan combined forces special enforcement unit tried to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Tower Road and Highway 11 in the northern Saskatchewan city.

The driver refused to stop and damaged two police vehicles in an attempt to flee and eventually ran off the road at the intersection of Donnybrook Road and Highway 2.

A woman in the car, 20-year-old Taylor Jael Vandresar, believed to be from Saskatchewan, gave up to police.

The driver, 32-year-old Ryan John Connell, believed to be from Alberta, fled on foot. He was tracked down a short time later by a Prince Albert Police Service canine unit.

Investigators seized 505 grams of crystal meth, 279 grams of soft cocaine and 83 grams of crack cocaine from the vehicle.

Connell has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police and breach of probation. No court date has been set.

Charges against Vandresar are pending.

Both were injured in the crash and treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
