The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is turning heads in downtown Vancouver today.
They are using a giant inflatable balloon of Senator Mike Duffy to gain support in their bid to abolish the Senate.
The balloon was first introduced in Ottawa this summer and has taken a tour across the country during the ongoing Senate expense scandal.
“We are very excited Saskatchewan and Manitoba have both passed motions in the House asking for the Senate to be abolished, and B.C. will hopefully vote on this next year,” says Jordan Bateman with the federation. “Our job today is to encourage Premier Christy Clark to hold a free vote and allow MLAs to vote their conscience.”
The taxpayer’s federation says 82 per cent of their members support a national referendum to abolish the Senate.
