The rise of violence in Canada’s public libraries
Description
April 22, 2023
The public library is the heart of our communities. But the random acts of violence happening on our streets, and on our transit systems, are also showing up inside our libraries. Experts blame a diminished social safety network that’s leaving people with complex issues nowhere to turn. For The New Reality, Melissa Ridgen reports how libraries are responding to the ever-evolving needs of their clients and at the same time keeping libraries a safe space.
