Junior hockey officials say they are taking steps to end the sport’s so-called culture of silence so players can feel comfortable coming forward to denounce abusive practices. The statement was made during a parliamentary commission in Quebec City looking into violent hazing practices. It was organized last week after revelations that several players had been victims of violent physical and even sexual assaults during initiation rites.
