In an effort to clear a surgical backlog of about 206,000 people, the Ontario government released a three-step plan Monday that involves having private facilities perform public procedures.
Starting as early as March, Ontario will partner with private surgical and diagnostic centres to provide these services. The costs will be covered by your OHIP card.
Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith says the Peterborough Regional Health Centre will not be negatively affected by this change. He joined Noor Ibrahim on Global News Morning Peterborough with more.
