Ontario’s provincial government passed a bill on Thursday that would impose a contract on education workers and make striking by CUPE’s Ontario School Board Council of Unions illegal, according to the legislation. As government MPPs voted, CUPE members shouted “shame” from the public gallery above and appeared to clap for Opposition MPPs who voted against before the union members were escorted out. The bill passed 74 to 30.
