Interim Ottawa police chief Steve Bell testified on Monday before the Public Order Emergency Commission about the experiences police learned from when dealing with the trucker protests that occupied Ottawa early in 2022, and how that experience was reflected on their handling of subsequent events. “We have an understanding of what these groups are capable of when they come together. We have an understanding of what could occur as these groups coalesce around a cause in an area,” he said.
