According to Statistics Canada, Albertans' home insurance premiums have skyrocketed due to an increase in the frequency and severity of extreme weather events. While there has been a nearly 40-per-cent increase in premiums across the country, the data shows Alberta was the hardest hit with a 56 per cent hike between December 2020 and 2025. Over the past two decades, the data shows a nearly 400-per-cent increase. Jasmine King has the details.
