At Westminster Abbey and all along the streets of central London, final preparations have been underway all day for one of the grand and solemn events in recent history. But at 8 p.m. local time – silence – everything stopped, from people in pubs to those standing on the streets to No. 10 Downing St. Britain stopped for a national moment of mourning to reflect on the late Queen Elizabeth II and her legacy. Two thousand guests will file into the historic building where Queen Elizabeth was married and crowned to celebrate her life tomorrow. Among the guests are leaders of almost every country and royalty from all around the world. It’s difficult to remember a time when there were so many dignitaries in one place.
