Hostage standoff in Lebanon appears to end as alleged hostage-taker exits bank

The man who allegedly held six people hostage at gunpoint inside a commercial bank in Beirut, Lebanon for around six hours has exited the bank. No hostages appeared to be harmed, according to the Lebanese Red Cross. The man was demanding deposits frozen by his bank. Lebanese banks have allowed limited withdrawals of hard currency for most depositors during the country's three-year financial meltdown. It is not yet known if the man negotiated his release or the end destination of the car into which he entered upon leaving the bank.
