Pope Francis calls out ‘ideological colonization’

Pope Francis called out what he said was “ideological colonization” during a speech at Quebec City’s historic Citadelle on Wednesday and cautioned against “judging the past purely on the basis of contemporary categories.” The Pope said the so-called “cancel culture” may focus on the needs of individuals while ignoring the duty to vulnerable peoples, including the poor, the elderly and migrants.
