White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre held a briefing in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, where she addressed U.S. President Joe Biden’s response to Brittney Griner’s letter to him. Griner is a U.S. citizen who the government believes is wrongfully detained in Moscow. “This is an issue that is a priority for this president,” said Jean-Pierre, adding “he believes that any U.S. national that is held abroad or detained or held hostage abroad, we need to bring back safely.”
