It used to be an essential skill practiced by Indigenous people across the continent. Hide tanning, where animal skins are prepared and used for footwear, clothing and shelter, might not be commonplace today but for some it’s becoming a way of life once again. Melanie Zettler met up with two hide tanners who travel the province sharing their knowledge.
