Noise is a daily reality for urban dwellers in Canada. Traffic, honking horns, and the incessant sound of construction are everywhere. It might seem like living in a loud environment is just big city life, but as Kayla McLean discovered for this week’s episode of The New Reality, exposure to noise can have serious health impacts. Plus, How do you do the most good in the best way possible? That’s the question at the center of a global philosophical and social movement called effective altruism. Members of the movement have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to charities, while others dedicate their life’s work to solving big global problems. Krista Hessey meets with young effective altruists in Canada who have altered their lifestyle to make the world a better place.
