Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam said on Friday that the Omicron COVID-19 wave could peak at 170,000 cases a day in January, though the projections are likely estimates of the “true number of daily cases” that may be occurring as testing restrictions have limited the number of reported cases.
