Elections Canada to “carefully review” Supreme Court’s decision to invalidate 2025 election result
Description
September 18, 2026
The Supreme Court of Canada has explained its decision to invalidate the result of the 2025 federal election in the Montreal-area riding of Terrebonne, where Liberal Tatiana Auguste was declared the winner by a single vote. It’s been revealed that some voters received envelopes with incorrect postal codes, and the agency did not act to correct the error. Elections Canada has said it will "carefully review" the Supreme Court's decision and determine what actions are needed.
