Ball-shaped ice covered Lake Manitoba on Saturday as recorded in a social media video. Jeff Kavanaugh, a glaciologist from the University of Alberta, attributed the phenomena to supercooled water – that is, water which remains liquid below its normal freezing point even as it is moved and rolled by the wind before eventually forming as solid ice.
