Rockies coal mining panel given 6-week report extension as new analysis says mountain mines would overall negatively impact Alberta

A University of Calgary report has found new coal mines in Alberta would not have a net benefit for the province. The study comes as the UCP government continues to gather feedback on coal development along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains and has granted the panel looking into that a six-week extension. Provincial affairs reporter Tom Vernon explains.
