British police officer Wayne Couzens was given a whole-life prison sentence on Thursday for the murder of Sarah Everard after abducting her as she was walking home in March, in a case which shocked the country and sparked protests over violence against women. Speaking outside the court, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said Couzens had brought "shame" on the force and that she understood public trust in them had been "shaken.”
