Rainfall slows some wildfire activity in Ontario, officials say

Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry said rainfall on Aug. 11 would temporarily slow the spread of fires burning in the province’s northwest. According to the ministry, 1,077 fires have been recorded in the province this year compared to 531 in the same period in 2020.
