Pickup truck crashes into fire hydrant in Peterborough

A Peterborough man faces impaired driving charges after a pickup truck struck a fire hydrant and went into a group of trees Tuesday evening in Peterborough.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Middlefield Road south of Otonabee Drive in the southeast end of the city just before 7 p.m.

A man driving the pickup truck was assessed by paramedics but was later seen with police. He was later charged with drug-impaired driving.
