Strong winds and dry conditions combined to cause explosive growth overnight in the so-called Glass Fire burning in California’s Napa County. Over 36,000 acres of grassy hillsides and oak woodlands thick with dry scrub went up in flames in the famed wine-producing regions of Napa and Sonoma counties, forcing an estimated 60,000 residents to be placed under evacuation orders or advisories.
