A fire early Wednesday destroyed a cottage south of Coboconk. Firefighters from several stations responded to the blaze on Driftwood Village Road around 3:30 a.m. City of Kawartha Lakes Deputy Fire Chief Terry Jones says crews were met with smoke and flames when they arrived. He said the cottage is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is pegged at $50,000.
