‘Unprecedented’ spring heatwave in UK, Europe does not determine extreme summer, experts say
Description
May 27, 2026
Parts of Europe have been hit with an intense and unprecedented heat wave, with cities sweltering to temperatures in the mid-to-high 30s. Most notably, heat records in both the United Kingdom and France have been smashed, harkening back to and renewing warnings from scientists of increasingly hot summers. And despite these alarming temperatures in the middle of spring, experts aren’t 100 per cent convinced they are a taste of what’s in store for the continent this summer.
