A fire on a balcony of a Peterborough apartment early Friday caused $50,000 in damage.
Firefighters responded around 1 a.m. to a Sheridan Street building and quickly extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire is careless discard of smoking materials, according to Peterborough Fire Services.
