Coronavirus: How safe are social bubbles?

Lockdowns are continuing to ease in several countries as they flatten their COVID-19 curve. Many places from England, Belgium to Canada are transitioning to a new normal by testing out exclusive “social bubbles,” which are small groups of individuals who may gather in close contact as often as they’d like, with the exception of maintaining proper health precautions outside the group. But how safe are social bubbles and can they actually work?
