Bear and two tiny cubs raid Vancouver Island bird feeder

A Nanoose Bay couple was treated to a visit by some unexpected guests on Wednesday. Don and Catherine Symington were relieved to be inside the house when a mother bear and her two cubs causally wandered into the backyard. The bears quickly sussed out the seeds in the bird feeder and indulged in a snack. Wildlife experts recommend avoid using any type of birdfeeder during bear season or to make them inaccessible to prevent bears from becoming habituated.
